History of Ludhiana
The rich history of Ludhiana traces back to 1481 when it was in the form of a tiny village named Meer Hota. This land was ruled by several rulers namely the Guptas, Yodhas and the Rajputs. The city was a witness to several fierce battles and clashes.
Ludhiana got its name from the Lodhi Dynasty around 1480 AD. The reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh brought prosperity and finally a cantonment was set up. But it came under the control of British rule in 1805.
The fascinating city of Ludhiana has given several freedom fighters namely Sardar Kartar Singh Sarabha, Maulana Habibur Rehman and Lala Lajput Rai whom history salutes till date!
Summers set in from mid of April and continues till mid of July characterized by extreme heat, dryness and dusty winds. June is the hottest month with temperature hovering around 45-46°C.
